Job Title: Senior Cloud Engineer

Locations: Abuja (FCT), Abia & Lagos (Remote)
Employment Type: Full-time

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Engineer with a minimum of 4 years of experience to join our remote team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and managing cloud infrastructure to ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of our cloud-based systems. You will work closely with development, operations, and security teams to build cloud architectures that support our business needs while optimizing for performance and cost.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure using AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud to support scalable and secure applications.
  • Configure and optimize cloud resources (compute, storage, networking) to meet performance and cost goals.
  • Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates.
  • Develop and manage automation workflows to support continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Automate cloud infrastructure provisioning, scaling, and management tasks.
  • Monitor and optimize the automation of cloud deployment processes.
  • Ensure that cloud infrastructure adheres to security best practices and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Implement identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and security policies to protect cloud environments.
  • Monitor cloud environments for security vulnerabilities and performance issues.
  • Implement monitoring and alerting solutions to ensure the health, performance, and reliability of cloud systems.
  • Analyze and optimize cloud costs and usage patterns to ensure the most efficient use of resources.
  • Perform regular system updates and patches, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum uptime.
  • Work closely with software developers, DevOps engineers, and other teams to ensure the cloud architecture aligns with development needs.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers on cloud best practices and architecture.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to the evolution of cloud strategy.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in cloud engineering or cloud infrastructure management.
  • Expertise in one or more cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar.
  • Solid understanding of cloud networking, storage, and security practices.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, Datadog).
  • Knowledge of automation scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Proficiency with container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certification in one or more cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
  • Experience with serverless computing frameworks (e.g., AWS Lambda, Azure Functions).
  • Knowledge of cloud-native application architectures, microservices, and APIs.
  • Familiarity with DevOps and Agile methodologies.
